23 Feb - SPX

Friday's positive close kept alive the S&P 500's streak of not yet having posted three consecutive down days in 2013.  In 2012, there were 15 instances of at least three consecutive days in the red, with February being the only month when no days occurred within a three day losing streak.  2011 witnessed 16 such instances, with October being the only month of non-participation.  In other words, the S&P 500 is flirting with the first two-month span in over 2 years without experiencing three consecutive negative days (last occurred Mar/Apr 2010--into the pre-flash-crash 1219.80 peak; the only post-March 2009 instance to date).
